Cute Toilet paper milk cartons

milkies cover.jpg

My youngest daughter came up with this cute little idea.  She wanted to play "kitchen" and needed a small milk carton to complement her little tea set.  She found a toilet paper roll and bent it into the shape of a carton and asked me to help her stick it in place.  I thought this idea was super cool so I took it a step further and gave it a cute Kawaii look with paint. I highly recommend using hot glue to hold the shape in place. If tape is all you have, go for it. But you may find that your carton will pop out of shape more easily with tape than with stronger hot glue.

PROJECT CHECKLIST

  • 1 empty toilet roll

  • craft paint in any desired colour

  • paint brushes

  • tape or hot glue (hot glue recommended for stronger and instant bond)

  • scissors

  • paint pens (optional) in any desired colour (I love using extra fine tip pens by Artistro.  The paint quality is excellent and the colours are vibrant.  Paint pens allow you to draw in fine details on your little milk cartons like cute faces.  It's fun to use and the bonus part: less mess!)

One toilet roll makes one cute milk carton. Bend your toilet roll to form a rectangular prism with 4 sides.  This is the body of your carton.

At one end of the toilet roll, cut slits at all four edges to form four flaps.

To form the bottom of the carton, fold the flaps in and tape or glue them in place. I recommend using hot glue.

Fold the other end of the toilet roll in the shape shown below.  Glue this opening shut to form the top part of the carton.
